I had a thought the other day taking my son to the restroom-I am always thinking. We treat this world like we treat public restrooms. I tell my son to get in get out, wash your hands, don't touch anything, and try not to get anything on you. I see some Christians who live their life this way. They stay away from the hurts and pains of the world or least stay a safe distance where they can wash their hands when they are finished. But as followers of Jesus we will get dirty. We are called to be with dirty people, broken people, hurting people. Following Jesus is not safe and it definitely is not clean. If following Jesus has never made you feel uncomfortable, unsafe, or unclean then you might be following to far back.
Still Believing,

i like this, i feel mission work is about getting dirty, i have learned some lessons, well a lot of them. first and foremost is that you can do mission work and stay in your own comfort zone. its only when you try to get in there with the people you ministering to that you really feel you are doing as Christ wants you to. He did not stay away from the crowds, He was right in the middle of them, touching them!!!!

I find that this kind of distance from dirt is a COMMON trait among Christians. Jesus went into the homes of prostitutes...behind closed doors (or whatever they used for privacy at that time). That's not righteous! How could he be so dirty?!! That's a prostitute for crying out loud!! Oh I forgot, Christianity exists because of him. My bad. Seems kind of different than what's being practiced today though huh?! I haven't seen THAT kind of open risk to reputation in today's Christian world in, I don't know, probably ever. I'm not afraid to sit down at a bar with an alcoholic and share a beer with him, giving us time to chat. I've been criticized for that mindset too often among Christians. How dare me be that unrighteous and dirty :) Great post dude.
